Information & Communication Technology Strand (ICT)

The Information & Communication Technology (ICT) strand is a specialized strand offered in senior high school programs. It is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of computer programming, digital arts, and robotics technology. The ICT strand prepares students for higher education programs and careers in fields such as computer science, information technology, multimedia arts, game development, and robotics engineering.

Specialization

Within the ICT strand, students focus on subjects related to computer programming, digital arts, and robotics technology. They may study courses such as programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++), multimedia design, digital animation, graphic design, web development, and robotics programming. The specialization allows students to develop technical skills in software development, digital media production, and robotics engineering.

Curriculum

The curriculum of the ICT strand includes core subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English, and Social Sciences, along with specialized subjects in computer programming, digital arts, and robotics technology. Students also engage in hands-on projects, coding workshops, and robotics competitions to apply their skills in real-world contexts.

Experience

Students in the ICT strand may have opportunities for internships, industry partnerships, or project-based learning experiences to gain practical experience in ICT-related fields. These experiences allow students to work on software development projects, create multimedia artworks, and build and program robots, under the guidance of industry professionals.

Opportunities

Graduates of the ICT strand can pursue higher education programs in fields such as computer science, information technology, multimedia arts, game development, and robotics engineering. They may also enter the workforce directly in entry-level positions in industries such as software development, digital media production, game design, animation studios, robotics companies, and technology startups.
